My Edit of my movie
My Film.
On the day of filming my location changed from shooting in canteen like a planned to shooting in the Student area because of to many people in canteen at the time and the short time I had to film, A problem I faced when filming I had no sound man so had place the sound recorder on the floor. so the sound was still muffled. This also came a problem while editing I had to make decision to use the sound the camera picked up or to use the recording the sound recorder picked up. Another problem came was that the sound recorder kept picking up music from a near by class room. A group girls were sitting by the filming area and were worried that there voices were going to be pick up so as director I had to re unsure them it would not. and if the girls voices was picked up I could cut of there voices out in the editing process. The Filming process was difficult at times because me and my actors at deal with a lot people coming in and out of the near by class room in future I try book out a area before filming to try and make sure something like this does not happen again. One of the actors had terrible remembering there lines so I sat with the actors and had a couple of read through with them. I was trying make easy as possible for them to remember. I want to do one wide shot of two actors going trough all there lines what was very difficult because actor was forgetting there lines I think found hard to remember those lines for that length of filming. I think what happened was the actors only were given the script a hour before shooting so didn’t have that long to learn there lines in future I think if my film involves dialogue I will give my actors a longer time to learn lines. Another problem that came up during filming as the tripod was on angle what made some shots look wonky as director and camera operator I should of took more time setting up shots. As the director I felt filming was very rushed. in my script the film was meant to shot in supermarket but because I could not find a right place to film a location what would suit a supermarket, The location was changed to a canteen and finally the location was changed to a Student area which will see in the final edit. As Liam and Aaron walk down to there seats in my edit there names will go over them to introduce the characters and also as they walk strutter by kiss will start playing, Stutter will fade out as the title comes up. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mBY7a2x3A08 Kiss Strutter. I do not own any of these tracks I only using them for this project and do not own the right to them or I will not be making any profit of them. It is poorly education based.
How I would improve.
I have finished a rough cut for my edit I want to show a basic idea of my movie to show what my idea and what I wanted to achieve.
As you see from this screen shot of the Movie, you see a placed tripod in the back ground. It oviously not meant to be there. iT only there very briefly and disappears. You are not meant see equipment in shots what is obvious point and it effects continuity. what I could done to prevent this during filming I could made sure their was no equiment in shot when I was setting up. during edit I could of made the shot shorter cutting out the tripod all together. Making the shot shorter would not of effected my edit because I could cut to another shot sooner.
Some of my shots are over exposed on the actors skin tones I could of turn down the apature on the lens to reduce to amount of light coming into to the lens. I could of used a grey card to help expose for skin tones.
I think it was very nicely lit by the light in the corridor it made the film look very bright it gave the film a nice look to it what was good because my movie is comedy. I had no use of red heads at all. If I had uses of extra lights I could used them to put light onto my actors.
I had no planning to film in the area so I didn,t just have the problem with on coming people coming into shot I also had sound coming from near by class room interfearing with my own sound equipment. I had no sound man operating the sound equipment. I had work the sound equipment and camera on my own. The sound from the sound equipment and camera are both very quiet and muffled. Because the the sound was a bit muffled and not very loud what I did was turn up the audio during the editing process.
What I noticed about edit was some of the shots went on too long this could make the audience viewing my film bored. Instead my filming getting right to the point or the next piece of dialogue it dragged on. What I could do to resolve this is cut down the scene use very fast cuts. keep it cuts moving at a fast pace.
My last titel is on screen to long to prevent I would Have cut the title down so it not on screen for to long.
For the shots what didn’t match up I could add a transistion in-inbetween Such as I could dip black, dip to white.
I think my film flows well the story is easy to understand, You know whats going on.
