For my music video I chose the song from the band Bury Tomorrow.  The song that I chose is Confessions, the album the song is from is Portraits, which is Bury Tomorrow’s first album. Bury Tomorrow  are a band from Southampton, the band’s members consist of Daniel Winter-Bates, Jason Cameron, Davyd Winter-Bates, Adam Jackson and Kristan Dawson. One of the past members involved was Mehdi Vismara.

Genre of music Metal Core

Bury Tomorrows albums consisted of Portraits followed by Union of Crowns and their latest album is Runnes. They also produced a cover called  A  liva da vida loca, that is a Ricky Martin Song.

The reason I choose this song for my music video is because this particular song does not have a video, therefore I could show the video of  how I see my view of the song.

I checked out what the lyrics were and I read them through to see what they meant to me personally. What I got from the lyrics was that it is a song about a  break up between a man and women. The girl is being a bit of a cow and the guy is having a hard time and can’t confess how he feels.

. Lyrics to Confessions “Confessions” Breathe! Oh God, breathe! Breathe! Oh god please breathe! I hate everything about you but it seems I have to clean up all the damage you do so I just sit and wait It’s just a cut at the throat For months I’ve had to swallow my pride You don’t know how much that killed me inside And I’m waiting for a sign, to show you that, that this is my crime and I know why, I know why I can’t Confess to this, Show you what I am I said I’d find you I fucking did I’ll shred the integrity you have left I’m so fucking sick of you, it’s just a cut at the throat, it’s just a cut at the throat we’ll see who’s laughing now and I want you to know that this is a time for me to show and I just want you to know, that I just need those words, to go waiting alone for a sign to show you that, that this is my crime and I know why, and I know why I care Lets do this, show you what I am we’re set to sail all the skies we won’t be seeing the light anymore I’t’s the price I’ve paid too much, It’s over, what have I done what have I fucking done bodies will fall, bodies will fall it’s the price they pay! [x2] It’s the price they pay [x2]

My basic story of my idea for the music video is that it shows the guy as he goes through the aftermath of a break up. It portrays how his behaviour will get  worse throughout the day; starting with something simple such as buying blu rays and DVD, to turning into something worst like drugs and drink.

In between the narrative of the break up the video will show footage of the clean vocalist playing the song.

Originally we wanted live scenes from the whole band playing and performing, but for the actual filming we had no one available for shooting. Therefore what I did to solve this was to have me on my own with a guitar given to me by another student. The final idea was to have me on my own performing to the song Confessions and  to have me acting like the clean vocalist.

I came up with a treatment that talked about our idea and narrative.  I  spoke about locations we could be using, for example  Tom’s flat because for the story scenes we needed some where that looked like an apartment. His flat was perfect because it was empty and we could use it all day without anyone  getting in the way of the filming progress. In my Treatment I also discussed my job roles I would be doing, such as camera operator and Actor. In the treatment I mentioned which characters  we would be playing.

For the permanence footage Tom be camera operator we wanted to make look like a me performing on stage as you see by this picture this Tom setting up the camera on to tripod to get a steady wide shot of the performance. Featured image Featured image we got the song confessions playing out the whole song as I sang it out the cleans and I be tending to play the guitar to the track as tom recorded to the track as I performed the song. .  Featured image Featured image Some shots of me performing was shot in front of the green screen because the idea was to add a Bury Tomorrow logo or a crowd but I decided it be better not use the green screen because better without. Featured image When I was planning my original idea it was going cut to woman he broke up with the shot was going to be her ripping up a photo of them together or delete a photo of them together of her phone but we had cut that shot due to not having a girl available for filming. I decided Replace the shot of the women ripping or deleting the photo with a shot of Tom’s character looking through a steaming mirror to look at his own reflection in the mirror to see what he has become. I was not completely happy with the mirror scene it didn’t work out the way it did in my mind.  it didn’t work as planned because had film as soon as possible because the steam from mirror keep going before I could finish my shot. we got the steam on the mirror by using a bowling kettle. The mirror shot was never planned in the storyboards I came up with it joining filming process. in my mind I wanted a over shoulder shot of Tom reflection looking back at him. In this scene filmed at Tom’s apartment his the scenes are where Tom’s character goes on a low point and begins to take drugs. My plan was to have  implied drugs by using sherbet to show drugs use I placed out on tom’s table. In that certain scene Tom will use a credit card to put the coke into lines ready for snorting. Featured image we also used the bottle of coka cola as beer because in my edit the narrative be in black and white  so hopefully people wont notices it is beer.  During filming in Tom’s apartment scenes I be the camera operator for those scenes because Tom will acting for camera. all the shots in Tom’s apartment are handheld to give it a more shacky effect to show Tom’s Characters breakdown .Featured image As you can see by this picture below  this scene if where Tom’s character slams out the door in anger after break at with girlfriend to buy his blu rays. The Picture Taken is for the cameras view as I Filmed. Featured image For the scenes shot where Tom’s Character buys blu rays  we took a bus to The HMV store in Leicester to film him picking up the various films he wanted to try and get over her. all the shots I filmed in HMV were filmed on a I phone what are completely  handheld shots.
